November 6, 2012 is an election day. Some people will view it as just another day, but to me, it is an extremely important day. We American’s enjoy a freedom that is envied by much of the world. Our forefathers fought, sacrificed, and in too many cases died for this freedom we enjoy. Whether we defined this freedom as freedom from slavery in the Civil War, freedom from tyranny and aggression as in the two world wars, freedom for others in the more recent conflicts in Korea, Vietnam, Iraq or Afghanistan or freedom from an over – bearing government which was the basis for the Revolutionary War. We fought for it all.
I believe that we are again facing an over – bearing government. I do not like, to be told that I have to work hard to pay for others who choose not to work. Hudapack is again being assessed a mandatory charge to pay the State of Wisconsin for money borrowed from the Federal government to fund the states exhausted unemployment fund.
I do not like to be told that our health insurance needs to be controlled by the government so we must pay for the coverage of others. Health insurance is a privilege we each work for.
I do not like being told what I should believe regarding illegal immigration, what rules I need to protect myself from myself, or what I can eat or drink.
I do not like paying high prices for oil or natural gas to Middle East Countries when we have those natural resources in our continent.
This list could go on for a long time, but the bottom line is that I do not want government to take away our freedoms, or spend our country into bankruptcy.
Our national debt is out of control and it will have a devastating effect on our children and grandchildren. When the debts of the United States are increasingly being owned by China, what kind of secure future are we leaving to the coming generations?
We need to all stand up and take charge of ourselves, our families, our communities, our State of Wisconsin and our Country.
With the elections only 2 months away, you owe it to yourself and your family to listen to the candidates and decide for yourself what you want the future to be like.
I will be voting for Republican candidates. I believe my goals and expectations are better represented by a conservative government.
I am a strong supporter of Paul Ryan and the leadership skills be brings to the Romney – Ryan ticket. Congressman Ryan visited our Elkhorn Plant twice. In 2000, he toured our plant and took the time to see what our business does, how it fits into the manufacturing process, and then addressed all of us in the lunch room. He was very impressed with the work being done and his Chief of Staff, Andy Spaeth, told me later, that both of them were intimidated by the flames coming out of the furnaces.
Congressman Ryan again visited Elkhorn in 2006 when I hosted a dialogue meeting with him and a representative from Nucor Steel. Nucor was very concerned with unfair trade practices being used by Chinese Steel manufacturers. As a board member of the National Association of Manufactures (NAM), I was asked to host the event. (Click on the link below to see pictures from Ryan’s visit)
I believe that Mitt Romney and Paul Ryan exemplify the types of leadership we need for our country and I fully support their election.
Regardless of whether you agree with me or not, I urge you to become an informed citizen, find the candidates that reflect your values, and vote on November 6th like the fate of our Nation depends on it. Because it does!
Remember to Vote!!
